Daca stam sa judecam evolutia din ultima cursa cred ca nu economice au fost motivele retragerii celor de la Audi. Probabil ca este economic daca se considera faptul ca evolutia modelului impune cheltuieli destul de mari. Ei de cand au scos motorul diesel au modificat numai detalii. Acuma cu Peugeot clar in apropierea lor ori se retrag ori risca sa nici nu prinda podiumul la vara daca nu investesc bani. |

The basis for the engine is the 170 hp 2.0 mounted on the Le?n FR. We kept the engine block and the cylinder head of the production model, but changed the turbo compressor and gearbox. Furthermore, we had to alter the front part to house the intercooler and create new air intakes. The Diesel engine is 35 kilos heavier than the petrol engine, so we had to redistribute some weight. After satisfactory test results, we are eager to see its potential in actual racing conditions.” Jordi Gen?: “We have been working on this project for several months, and appreciate its great potential. I am looking forward to it because one of the aspects I most like about my job is the possibility of working on new car development, and even more so when they feature new technologies. We are facing a double handicap with the Diesel car. The first is that according to regulations, a Diesel car has to weigh 30 kilos more than with a petrol engine. The second is that the intercooler and the turbo are situated in front of the front axel, which makes weight distribution detrimental compared to a petrol car. But, as the Le?n has the best chassis in the Championship and our engine torque will be much higher, I think that, in the mid-term and on certain tracks, we can be competitive.” Yvan Muller: “I have done some testing with the Diesel engine, and the lap times are very similar to the petrol engine. It is a little slower in the corners because of the extra weight and there is more stress on the tyres, but it is a little bit quicker on the straights. The chassis of the SEAT Le?n is one of the best, but the straight-line speed is too slow and now SEAT Sport has found a good solution to this problem. Audi a castigat cursa de 24h de la Le Mans desfasurata in acest weekend cu echipajul masinii nr. 2 care l-a avut in componenta si pe Tom Kristensen, castigator pt a 8-a oara la Le Mans. Cei de la Audi au fost urmati pe locurile 2 si respectiv 3 de echipaje Peugeot. |

Si datorita faptului ca sunt doar doi constructori implicati este normal sa se intample asa. Pana la urma campionatul este sustinut in aceste momente doar de popularitatea si rivalitatea constructorilor Mercedes si Audi, iar factorul comercial este ... ma intelegi. Cred ca DTM nu este tocmai ce ar trebui sa fie in momentele astea cu toate ca vizionarea unei curse DTM este de foarte multe ori mai placuta si mai interesanta decat vizionarea multor curse F1; cel putin valabil pt F1/DTM 2006-2007. |
